Over the years, Tendulkar has forged his name in history as the ‘The Greatest Batter of all time’ and he also got nicknamed as The ‘Master Blaster’.
The Tendulkar bid adieu to international cricket in 2013 and to date, he remains the highest run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar also has a record for registering most international centuries.
Sachin Tendulkar long carried a nation's cricketing hopes on his shoulders. But in 2011, at his last World Cup on home soil, his teammates returned the favour. Fans voted it the sporting moment of the century so far.
Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar won a special award at the Laureus ceremonies in Berlin on Monday, a rare cricketing honour being handed out in Germany, where the sport's following is modest.
Tendulkar, who holds the record for the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, won a fan vote for the award for the Best Sporting Moment from the last two decades. The Laureus ceremony described the scene, “As Tendulkar's teammates took him around the pitch for a victory lap, as the Indian cricketer being carried on the shoulders of a nation.”
Sachin Tendulkar said on receiving the award in Berlin, "It's incredible. The feeling of winning the world cup was beyond what words can express. How many times you get an event happening where there are no mixed opinions. Very rarely the entire country celebrates.”
The thought of not watching Tendulkar on a cricket field became a reality and the thousand n thousand in the stands shed tears as the Master Blaster delivered an emotional farewell speech during the presentation ceremony.
Sachin Tendulkar was walking to the ground, he was met with huge applause since everybody knew how big a moment it was. Everyone wants to salute him in their own way. They were shouting, screaming and was filled with emotions.
It was a moment of pride. Sachin Tendulkar did entertain the huge crowd by rolling his arms.
On November 16, 2013, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai witnessed Sachin Tendulkar was walking out of the cricket field for the final time as an international cricketer. The entire stadium erupted in applause, thanking him for his service.

The Washington Post stated, “ Sachin Tendulkar, India’s ‘ God of Cricket ’, retires.”
Sunil Gavaskar, who was commentating on that day, said on air loudly & emotionally: “ What an innings from the Master, Thanks for the entertainment for 24 years. It would have been fantastic had it been a hundred. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
